hello, we have a rabbit and when we play with it , it runs away and stuff and hides...so im just wondering....does the rabbit know in its mind we are friendly? or does it constantly think we are a ''predater'' lol ....when it runs around does that mean its playing with us. thanks.well it depends, i have been raising rabbits for 7 odd yrs and each rabbit is different. i have one who comes to name most of the time but sometimes he will play games and want me to cash him until i win. i have a couple rabbits who just don't want to be handled because they rather explore, see everything and exercise before allowing you to handle them. they like to know there surrounding. take your rabbit into the house, let him loose for a bit in an area where he can't get hurt and let him know his surroundings and make sure you talk a lot, or sing, what ever like so he gets to know your voice. sit on the floor or lay on the floor and allow the rabbit come to you when he's ready. he will come check, to see what you are doing or if your ok.
normally it is habit to run and hide from you, and he probably always will, but if you keep allowing him to come to you he will learn to trust you and understand he has a choice when he wants to come to you.
hoped i helpedwell, it's there natural instinct to run and hide because in the wild they have 2 constantly be on the watch. I have 2 rabbits of my own and they do that all the time, i work with them, and they have slowly, but surly began 2 trust me more. so just be patient and work with them as much as posible. And u can't play with them like a puppy. So try 2 avoid fast, loud, or large movments. These freak them out the most. The best way is 2 lay on your stomach or back and move slowly. They feel safer if u look smaller and less threatening. when u r on the ground they will usually come and investigate becuase u aren't looming above with booming feet. (also if they run and like do a flip-type-thing, don't worry, this is there way of having fun!)I own 20 plus rabbits some of my rabbits run away from us some run towards us when we come by their cages. It all has to do with your relationship with your pet, its age, how old it was when you got it, and sometimes even if you have had a bunny for years and you have played with it, it can be shy and be trying to protect it self from you not sure if you are gonna hurt it. They thump their back feet when they are threatened or scared. Running around is a mystery to me some of mine follow me around some run around it could be many things.normally if you rabbit runs away and hides it means it is scared of you, plenty of gentle handling and grooming should help your rabbit trust you more, but some rabbits never get rid of their fear. good luck#If you have any other info about this subject , Please add it free.# |
